Our work here ranges from Regency villas and mansion flats to modern apartment blocks near Regent's Park. Each setting brings its own constraints on fixing, concealment and permission. We survey those practical points first, then give you a fixed written quote for the work we agree.
Villa walls can hide very different construction
A thick period wall may be solid brick, lath and plaster, or a later lining over something less obvious. We check the construction at the planned fixing points before choosing anchors. Decorative plaster is not a load-bearing surface, so we establish what will actually take the weight of the screen and bracket.
Where a wall cannot be trusted, we explain the options: relocating the screen, adding suitable backing or using another section of the room. We would rather tell you that the proposed panel is unsuitable than hang a heavy television from material that cannot carry it.
Mansion flats: ceilings, chimney breasts and shared walls
In a mansion flat, high ceilings can tempt people to mount the screen too far above seated eye level. We mark the picture where it suits your sofa, not simply where there is the most open wall. Chimney breasts, party walls and boarded recesses all need inspection before fixing.
Noise and neighbour considerations matter in shared buildings. We keep drilling within agreed working hours and protect floors and furniture. Please check with the managing agent whether restrictions affect fixings, concealed runs or the use of communal stairs and lifts.
Leaving the cornice and panelling alone
Cable concealment in a high-specification interior has to avoid damaging mouldings, panelling and wallpaper. We discuss whether a concealed route is feasible, whether a skirting-level path suits the room or whether a slim paint-matched cover is better. Each choice has consequences for making good.
We never bury ordinary mains extension leads in a wall. If a socket must be relocated behind the screen, the electrical element has to be handled appropriately. We plan signal leads so they can be replaced later without taking the wall apart again.
Listed or protected interiors need consent first
Some properties around Abbey Road and Regent's Park lie in conservation areas, and individual buildings may have listed status or lease restrictions on alterations. Internal fixings do not always trigger the same checks as external work, but you are responsible for confirming any consent that applies to your building.
We keep our work within what the freeholder or owner permits. If the plan involves an external cable route, a new entry point or alterations to a protected surface, say so at the start. That prevents a visit being arranged for work that cannot proceed.
Screens above a fireplace or inside joinery
Bespoke joinery and media cabinets look good when the screen suits the opening, so we ask for the television model before agreeing the bracket. Clearances at the sides and rear affect ventilation and cable access. A picture that fits on paper may leave no room to release the HDMI plug.
A mantel can be a beautiful focal point, but heat from an active fire and the viewing height above it both need assessment. We check the manufacturer's requirements and the flue arrangement. If the fireplace cannot meet them, we discuss another wall or a cabinet position.
Soundbars, streaming boxes and a tidy finish
Premium televisions often arrive with a separate soundbar, streaming box or recorder. We position each item for ventilation and remote control reach, then connect them using the correct HDMI ports. Where available, we configure ARC or eARC so one remote handles volume.
We test the connected sources before leaving and demonstrate the main settings. Picture modes, audio output and input switching can all be explained in the room. If you have an existing smart-home control system, tell us what it needs so we leave connections accessible.
Access, parking and large screens in NW8
Controlled parking, porters, narrow stair turns and lift booking can shape the day. Tell us how we get a large boxed television to the room and where we can unload. A little planning avoids a TV sitting in a hall while we wait for access to be arranged.
We protect hallways, floors and furniture and leave the work area clear. If the screen needs two people to lift it safely, we plan accordingly. You should also let the building team know when contractors are expected, particularly if the lift needs protection.
