We check the wall, choose the right fixings and put the screen where it is comfortable to watch. Then we deal with the cables, soundbar and connected equipment. We bring 25 years' experience to homes across Finchley, Muswell Hill, Hampstead and Highgate. You get a working setup and a proper handover.
Call free on 0800 206 2385 for a free site survey and fixed written quote. We work Mon–Sat 8am–7pm, with same-day service where possible. Tell us the TV model, wall type and what you want hidden. We give you a clear price before work starts.
We start with the wall and your seated eye line
A screen that looks tidy on an empty wall can sit far too high once you settle onto the sofa. We mark the proposed position and check it from your normal seat. We allow for the screen size, viewing distance, furniture and room layout. We also check reflections from windows and access to the television's connections.
In N12 Victorian terraces, alcoves and chimney breasts often dictate the available space. In open-plan extensions, the viewing position can change between the sofa and kitchen. We talk that through before choosing a bracket. You approve the position before we drill, with the screen outline and cable route explained.
Brick walls: solid fixings into sound material
We establish what is behind the plaster. Solid brick, blockwork and a boarded-over chimney breast need different fixings and preparation. We check the mounting area for services and assess the condition of the substrate. Old plaster does not carry the television's weight; the fixings need to engage suitable structural material.
We match the fixings and bracket to the TV's weight and the wall. An extending arm puts extra leverage on its mounting points, so we assess it in its working position. If the masonry needs repair, we explain that before installation. We protect nearby furniture and manage drilling dust while we work.
Stud walls: find the structure before mounting
We locate studs and check the wall construction before agreeing the installation. Timber studs, metal framing and reinforced media walls need different approaches. We establish the screen weight, bracket reach and available fixing positions. Where backing is needed, we set out how the wall must be opened and reinforced.
For a typical Colindale flat with a plasterboard partition, we first locate the framing and mark the bracket against it. That check decides whether the existing wall is ready or needs backing. We explain the preparation and making-good requirements before proceeding. A handful of generic plasterboard plugs is no substitute for checking the load path.
Hidden cabling without losing access
We plan cable routes before the screen goes up. Options include a concealed wall route, a service void or neat surface trunking. We explain which is practical for your wall and finish. Chasing masonry creates plastering and decoration work; our quote makes clear who handles that stage.
We allow for HDMI leads, network connections and the equipment you actually use. We check cable lengths and specifications against the picture formats you want. We keep plugs, joints and service points accessible. Mains alterations need a suitable electrician; we agree that work in advance and keep signal cabling appropriately separated from power.
Above-fireplace installations: check heat and height first
We assess the fire, mantel, screen position and television manufacturer's requirements. Heat rising from an active fireplace can damage a television. We establish the permitted location before quoting for the mounting. We also check the chimney breast construction and avoid compromising a flue with fixings or concealed cable work.
Take a typical Highgate terrace layout: the fireplace is the obvious focal point, yet the proposed screen sits above a seated viewer's comfortable line of sight. We mark that height and discuss an adjacent alcove or alternative wall. You can compare the positions in the room before committing to the installation.
Media walls: agree the details before the wall closes
We work with your builder to agree bracket backing, screen recess dimensions, ventilation and cable access. We need the actual television and soundbar specifications. A recess built around a guessed screen size can obstruct connections or leave insufficient clearance. We check those dimensions while changes are still straightforward.
We plan where the recorder, console and streaming equipment will live. Remote controls and wireless connections need to work with cupboard doors closed. We allow access for replacing a lead or removing the television later. If an electric fire forms part of the media wall, its installation clearances and the TV's heat limits both apply.
The right bracket and a properly connected soundbar
We check the TV's VESA mounting pattern, weight and connector positions. A fixed bracket keeps the screen close to the wall. A tilt bracket changes the angle; a full-motion arm adds reach and movement. We show you the clearance and movement each option provides, including space for cables without crushing plugs.
We position the soundbar to suit the screen and keep its speakers unobstructed. We connect HDMI ARC or eARC where supported, select the correct audio output and test volume control. We check dialogue, lip sync and the subwoofer connection. We also explain which remote controls everyday viewing so you are comfortable using the setup.
Testing, handover and booking your visit
We check the bracket, screen alignment and cable movement, then test the sources you use. That includes the TV receiver, streaming box, games console and soundbar where connected. We show you how to change inputs and reach connections safely. We clear the work area and explain any agreed decorating still to be completed.
We cover N12, N2, N6 and NW11, including Golders Green, Hendon and Colindale. Send a photograph of the wall, the TV model and details of any fireplace or media-wall plans.
