We install in HA8 inter-war semis, bungalows and newer apartments, covering homes around Edgware Broadway, Canons Park and Stonegrove. We can assess a bracket you already own or advise before you purchase one. Our recommendation starts with your television and room rather than a standard fitting package.
Start with the furniture you intend to keep
We establish where the sofa, chairs and cabinet will stand after the work. In an inter-war semi, a bay window and chimney breast can pull the seating away from the centre of the room. We mark a screen position that works from your usual seat instead of automatically lining it up with an architectural feature.
For a bungalow, we also consider circulation between doors and furniture. A screen on an extended arm should not narrow a walking route or become an obstacle at head height. We discuss the position with you before drilling, including how the screen looks when parked and when turned towards another chair.
Find out what an altered wall can carry
An older house may combine original masonry, a later extension and internal partitions within the same floor. We inspect the intended mounting area and check for services before selecting a fixing method. A substantial-looking chimney breast can have a lining or repaired face that changes how the bracket needs to be secured.
For plasterboard construction, we investigate framing and backing rather than relying on the board alone. We assess bracket reach as well as screen weight: moving the load further out increases the demand on the fixing points. If the wall needs strengthening or remedial work, you hear that before we commit to fitting.
Reuse a bracket only when it is genuinely suitable
A replacement television does not necessarily fit the previous mount. We compare the VESA pattern, weight rating, bolt requirements and location of the new set's connections. Missing spacers or the wrong screw length can prevent a safe fit even when the holes appear to line up. We check the complete arrangement, not just the label.
Fixed, tilting and articulated brackets solve different problems. We explain the gap behind the television and whether there is enough room for aerial plugs and HDMI connections. If you want a new screen fitted to an existing wall position, tell us what is already installed so we can assess both bracket condition and supporting fixings.
Keep the lounge tidy without burying future problems
We plan cable runs to the actual box, console or cabinet, allowing for doors to open and equipment to be replaced. Where there is no suitable concealed route, neat surface containment is an option. Chasing a solid wall brings dust and follow-on finishing, so we agree the extent of that work rather than presenting it as a minor extra.
In a house near Canons Park, an existing low-level outlet might remain the sensible starting point even if the screen moves higher. We explain how leads would travel and which parts stay visible. Electrical changes belong with a suitable electrician, and our agreed scope identifies any plaster repair or redecoration that must follow.
Treat fire and media-wall clearances seriously
We do not decide a television can go above a fire simply because it fits the width of the chimney breast. We consider operating heat, the manufacturer's requirements and the height you would be watching from. Any fixing or cable work must also avoid compromising the flue. An alternative wall can be a better long-term choice.
If a builder is creating a media wall, involve us while the structure remains accessible. We need the proposed television and soundbar specifications to check backing, ventilation and connection access. Recess dimensions should not be guessed from screen diagonal alone. Electric fires also have installation clearances that must be respected alongside the television's own limits.
Connect the soundbar and prove the everyday setup
We agree a soundbar position that leaves speakers and sensors unobstructed. Where compatible, we configure HDMI ARC or eARC and check the TV's audio settings. We test speech, lip sync and volume control, rather than stopping at a startup tone. Let us know about separate speakers or a subwoofer when arranging the work.
The final checks cover screen alignment, bracket security and lead movement, followed by the sources you actually watch. We demonstrate changing inputs and explain access for future connections. A wall-mounted screen should remain maintainable; we show you what can be reached normally and when removing the television needs appropriate assistance.
Arrange the survey before ordering extra equipment
Call 0800 206 2385 for free advice or send your postcode and television details to WhatsApp 07595 292534. Mention parking, narrow entrances and whether the set needs carrying between floors. For Stonegrove apartments, include any managing-agent permission and contractor access arrangements. We offer a free site survey and provide a clear price before work starts.
We are Finchley Aerials and Satellites, with 25 years' experience and a base at Britannia Road, Finchley N12 9RU. Contact hours are Mon-Sat, 8am-7pm, and on-site work runs until sunset. Ask about same-day availability; it depends on the schedule and preparation needed. Your fixed written quote sets out the agreed installation.
