We install, relocate and repair satellite equipment throughout HA8, including Stonegrove, Edgware Broadway and homes towards Canons Park. You can ask us about an existing dish as well as a completely new system. We explain what is worth keeping rather than treating every enquiry as a replacement job.
Choosing a practical position on a bungalow or semi
A low roof does not rule out satellite reception. At bungalows near Canons Park, we examine the satellite path from accessible wall positions before considering a higher mount. Trees, an adjoining extension or the next building may obstruct one spot while leaving another usable. We measure rather than judge the position from the pavement.
On Stonegrove's inter-war semis, the best support may be sound masonry away from an ageing chimney. We inspect the fixing surface and bracket loading, keeping future maintenance in mind. For Sky and Freesat, the target is normally Astra at 28.2 degrees east; the dish cannot simply face whichever patch of sky looks open.
Match the LNB before connecting a new box
The small receiving unit at the front of the dish is the LNB. Its outputs must suit the receiver, not just the plugs on the cables. We ask for the model number because Sky Q wideband equipment and conventional satellite tuners have different requirements. Freesat specifications also vary between receiver generations.
If you want to retain another receiver elsewhere, tell us before we change anything. A compatible mixed arrangement may be needed. We count the required feeds, check usable cable routes and explain which functions the proposed connection supports. We are independent installers; subscriptions and account permissions remain matters for your provider.
Repair a failing feed without discarding sound parts
When pictures break up, we compare the signal at the dish with the feed reaching the room. That helps separate misalignment from a damaged cable or failing LNB. We inspect outdoor connectors for corrosion and moisture, and check the short connection behind the receiver before blaming equipment on the roof.
Wind-related failure needs a structural check as well as adjustment. A bracket that moves on its fixings will lose alignment again. We address loose support, damaged hardware or an unsuitable fixing surface before setting the dish accurately. A serviceable reflector can remain in use if testing shows it still performs properly.

Cable routes that respect finished rooms
We walk the proposed route with you before drilling. In a semi, a side passage may offer a tidier run than carrying twin coax across the front elevation. In a bungalow, we consider accessible roof space and the location of the television, without assuming every loft is safe to enter.
New suitable satellite runs use screened coax such as WF100, with supported bends and protected external terminations. We seal building entries and keep the cable clear of doors and windows that could crush it. Existing wiring is tested if you hope to reuse it; a familiar wall socket does not prove that the hidden cable is satellite-compatible.

Apartments around the Broadway need an ownership check
In Edgware Broadway apartments and newer developments, a rooftop dish may serve several homes. We establish whether your socket belongs to a communal distribution system before proposing a private dish. Tell us if other residents have the same fault; that information helps distinguish an individual connection problem from a shared supply issue.
Access to a locked equipment cupboard or shared roof needs authorisation. We can explain the findings to your managing agent and separate work inside your flat from changes affecting the building. A Sky Q upgrade also needs the shared distribution checked for compatibility, not just a different receiver plugged into the existing outlet.
Arrange the move before scaffolding blocks reception
Roof repairs and extensions can interrupt a previously reliable satellite path. If building work is planned, send us a description of the proposed obstruction and the receiver location. We assess whether temporary relocation is practical and where the permanent installation should sit once the work is complete.
We also check landlord consent and any relevant planning restrictions before fixing equipment. Edgware spans Barnet and Harrow, so the property's actual address matters when identifying the relevant authority. Safe access, parking arrangements and any specialist access equipment are discussed before the appointment, rather than improvised on arrival.

Prove the installation at the television
We adjust direction, elevation and LNB skew with a meter, then check reception across suitable satellite transponders. A good picture on one programme is not enough. Indoors, we test the required feeds and demonstrate viewing and supported recording functions with your receiver.
Rain can expose weak reception margins. We look for avoidable losses in alignment, connectors and cabling, while explaining that extreme weather can still interrupt satellite broadcasts. At handover, we identify the cables and leave you clear about what has changed and how the connected equipment should operate.
