Our 25 years of experience informs those checks, not a guess about hidden construction. We offer free advice, a free site survey and a fixed written quote. Send the television model and photographs of your room so we can discuss the right starting point.
A useful wall is not always the obvious wall
In a narrow lounge near Caledonian Road, the longest clear wall may face the windows rather than the sofa. We compare daylight reflections, door swings and the route people use through the room. A screen outline lets you judge the position while seated, instead of approving a height standing beside the installer. We include the cabinet and soundbar in that outline. If you want the television to turn towards a dining table, we check the movement before selecting an arm. Nothing should project across an entrance or force someone to squeeze past a sharp screen corner during normal use.
Older plaster needs a structural answer
Holloway terraces can conceal several alterations beneath a smooth painted surface. We distinguish masonry from boarded partitions and inspect the intended mounting zone for concealed services. Plaster thickness alone tells us little about the strength behind it. We choose fixings for the actual substrate and assess whether deteriorated material needs attention first. On framed walls, we locate useful structural members and explain any reinforcement required. We do not promise a heavy television on an extending arm until that load path is established. Opening a wall, adding backing and restoring the finish must be understood and agreed rather than discovered halfway through fitting.
Living in a flat changes the preparation
For a mansion flat on Holloway Road, we ask about permissions, shared walls and the building arrangements before scheduling noisy work. Tenants should obtain the necessary landlord approval; owners may also need to consult their lease or managing agent. We agree which surface can be drilled and whether cabling may enter a shared space. Tell us about stairs, lift dimensions and any delivery restrictions when a large screen is involved. We protect the route through your home and need a clear working area below the proposed position. An awkward landing is a reason to plan the lift properly, not rush it.
Choose movement with the connections in mind
The mounting holes on the television, its weight and the shape of its rear panel determine bracket compatibility. We also look at where HDMI and aerial plugs emerge. A slim fixed mount can become impractical when a rear-facing plug has no clearance. Tilt may help with a modest height difference, while a swivel arm adds leverage that the wall must support. We leave suitable cable slack for the agreed travel and keep leads away from hinge pinch points. If you supply a bracket, have its instructions, screws and spacers ready so we can check the complete arrangement before mounting begins.
Cable routes that respect a converted room
We map the path from screen to sockets, receiver and console before anything is fixed. In a conversion near Tufnell Park, a short surface route may preserve decorative plaster better than chasing a chimney breast. We show the trunking line and explain where it will remain visible. Concealment can require wall opening, plaster repair and decoration; the quotation identifies those responsibilities. Signal cables need suitable separation from mains wiring, and electrical alterations belong with an appropriate electrician. We keep replaceable leads and their connectors accessible, avoiding a sealed arrangement that has to be broken open whenever equipment changes.
Make the mounted television easy to use
We connect the agreed sources and give them understandable input names where the television supports that feature. With a soundbar, we check the correct ARC or eARC sockets and confirm that volume commands reach the intended device. We listen for dialogue timing problems rather than assuming that sound proves everything is finished. A cupboard can block a remote control or weaken a wireless connection, so we test equipment in its normal stored position. We also check that the soundbar does not cover the screen sensor. You should be able to watch television without remembering an installer-only sequence of button presses.
Arrange the Holloway visit and final checks
Call 0800 206 2385 free, or WhatsApp 07595 292534 with your N7 address and equipment details. We answer Mon-Sat, 8am-7pm; on-site work runs until sunset, and same-day appointments depend on availability and the preparation needed. Our base is Britannia Road, Finchley N12 9RU. We agree a clear price before work starts, including any bracket supply or cable finishing. At handover we inspect alignment, demonstrate safe adjustment and test each agreed source. We explain how future connections can be reached and identify any outstanding decoration, leaving the installation understandable as well as tidy.
