Victorian houses, mansion blocks and newer residential schemes present different installation choices around Holloway Road. We bring 25 years of aerial and satellite experience to the physical work, without treating satellite broadband like a television dish. You receive a clear price before work starts and an explanation of any restrictions we cannot remove.
Start above the balcony rail
A sheltered balcony seems attractive because the kit stays within reach. In a Holloway flat, however, the balcony above and the building opposite can remove much of the required view. We use the Starlink app to inspect candidate locations rather than judging reception by whether a phone briefly opens a web page. A first connection is not evidence of a suitable permanent position.
Around Caledonian Road we consider the surrounding roof heights as well as your own elevation. We compare accessible locations and explain the compromises. Where no authorised position offers a sufficiently open outlook, we say so instead of selling mounting work that leaves the original obstruction.
Who can authorise a roof installation?
For a mansion block we establish who owns the roof and external walls. Permission to occupy a flat does not automatically include permission to drill communal brickwork. We ask for the managing agent's requirements, approved routes and access arrangements before agreeing the installation. This keeps an individual broadband project from interfering with building-wide responsibilities.
New student and residential developments may have controlled roof doors, restricted plant areas or contractor procedures. We need those details early. Any necessary planning or listed-building consent must also be settled. We can describe the proposed equipment and fixing arrangement for your application, but we cannot grant approval on the owner's behalf.
Brackets selected for the actual wall
On terraces towards Tufnell Park, a high wall fixing may provide a better option than an ageing chimney assembly. We inspect the masonry, bracket stand-off and loading before choosing. A taller pole produces greater leverage, so height is not something we add casually to get above an obstruction.
We identify your Starlink generation and specify a compatible mounting interface. Existing aerial hardware is only a possibility, not an entitlement to reuse it. Loose fixings, cracked brickwork or an unsuitable mast need addressing separately. Access equipment and weather conditions are part of the decision; we do not lean out of a window to avoid arranging safe access.
Bring the cable into your flat, not the corridor
The path from roof to router often decides whether a Holloway installation is practical. We trace it with you before drilling, including the size of the connector and any bends around existing services. A communal riser requires approval and suitable access. We leave shared doors, escape routes and fire-safety arrangements undisturbed.
Outside, the Starlink cable needs support rather than a loose drop past several windows. We protect it at edges, avoid trapping it beneath a sash and weatherproof the wall entry. The supplied system carries power and data through model-specific components; an old television coax feed cannot simply become its replacement.
Position the router for the rooms you use
A converted Victorian house can place a bedroom two floors away from the obvious cable entry. We ask where you work and where calls need to remain usable. Router placement deserves that discussion before an external hole fixes the indoor layout. A cupboard surrounded by services may be convenient for wiring but poor for wireless coverage.
We distinguish the outdoor satellite connection from the wireless link inside the flat. Where the agreed scope includes wider coverage, we assess compatible mesh equipment or Ethernet options for your kit. Thick walls and floor construction matter. Adding another node without a useful connection back to the router can leave the same weak room.
Investigating a kit that already drops out
If you already own Starlink, send us the app status and describe the pattern. A connection lost as branches move suggests a different investigation from a router that repeatedly loses power. We inspect accessible connections, cable damage and mounting movement before recommending relocation. We do not promise that every outage originates on your property.
Keep connectors dry and avoid repeated outdoor unplugging while trying to diagnose it yourself. We check the model before specifying replacement components. Account restrictions, service-plan issues and network outages remain matters for Starlink; we explain when the evidence points there rather than replacing sound mounting hardware.
Handover includes the app, not just the bracket
Once fitted, we check fastening, cable support, weather sealing and equipment connections. We help you confirm operation through your own account and inspect the app's current status. Obstruction reporting can develop after the initial setup, so we explain what later information is useful and how to distinguish it from an indoor Wi-Fi complaint.
We test in the rooms covered by our agreement and show you the installed route. Performance changes with service conditions and demand, so we offer no invented speed guarantee. You should leave the visit knowing what we fitted, which permissions apply and which part of the setup you manage through Starlink.
Arrange a Holloway assessment
Call Finchley Aerials free on 0800 206 2385 or WhatsApp 07595 292534. We answer Mon-Sat 8am-7pm, with on-site work continuing until sunset when conditions allow. Same-day service is possible when the diary, permissions and access line up; a shared roof may need a separately coordinated appointment.
Give us your N7 address, kit model and floor level. Photos taken from the pavement or garden help us discuss rooflines safely. Our base is Britannia Road, Finchley N12 9RU, and advice is free. We confirm the proposed scope in a fixed written quote before any agreed installation begins.
