We install satellite equipment across Whetstone and Totteridge, from High Road mansion flats to semis and larger detached homes. We also repair existing systems, move dishes ahead of building work and adapt compatible installations for different receivers. Our recommendations start with what you need to watch, not a predetermined list of replacements.
Trees, extensions and the actual satellite path
For the usual Sky and Freesat services, we assess the view towards the satellite position at 28.2 degrees east. Trees near Totteridge Lane can matter when they cross that path, but their presence elsewhere in the garden is not itself a problem. We inspect the proposed mounting point rather than judge reception from the road.
A rear extension may obstruct an older dish or provide a possible alternative mounting surface. We check both the clearance and the construction. Raising the dish is only justified if it solves the obstruction safely. Local terrestrial transmitter coverage does not determine whether your satellite position will work.

Plan the rooms before selecting the receiving head
Let us know which receivers you own and which rooms need independent viewing. A second television is not always served by adding a simple splitter. The LNB and distribution must support the equipment involved, and recording needs can change the feed requirements. We check the exact models rather than work from brand names.
Sky Q, older Sky boxes and different Freesat generations do not all accept the same arrangement. Where you want to retain mixed equipment, we assess compatible options before ordering parts. We are independent installers; any subscription, activation or account change remains between you and the television provider.

A sensible cable route across a larger house
Detached homes can put considerable distance between a discreet dish location and the main viewing room. We consider the cable length, accessible routes and the condition of existing coax before agreeing the layout. Following every old clip is not necessarily the neatest or most reliable solution after an extension changes the building.
We specify suitable screened coax, support exterior runs and protect joints against moisture. Entry points are agreed with you and sealed after installation. Indoors, we avoid trapping cable behind tight fittings and leave the receiver connections accessible. If decoration is complete, we discuss visible alternatives rather than promise invisible wiring without inspecting the route.

Keep useful equipment when reception deteriorates
An ageing dish is not automatically a failed dish. We examine its surface, arm and support, then test the LNB and cable. A damaged connector can stop a sound installation working. We explain the failed component and retain serviceable parts where they remain appropriate for your chosen receiver.
If the picture breaks up in modest rain, we investigate alignment and water entry rather than dismiss the weather. Where wind affects viewing, the mounting gets attention before fine adjustment. Once repairs are complete, we measure quality across suitable transponders and confirm reception at the indoor end of the feed.
High Road flats need a different starting point
In mansion flats along Whetstone High Road, we first establish whether a communal dish already supplies the building. A receiver upgrade may require a distribution compatibility check rather than permission for another dish. We identify the outlet arrangement and ask for access to the shared equipment only through the responsible manager.
We distinguish work inside your flat from changes that affect other residents. If a branch cable or wall plate is faulty, that can be investigated without assuming the roof equipment needs replacement. For shared alterations, we explain the proposed scope so the managing agent can authorise it properly.
Discretion does not remove the need for consent
We consider less prominent positions where reception allows, particularly when a front elevation would be visually intrusive. Planning rules, protected status and lease conditions may limit the options. We do not assume that being behind a hedge or on a rear wall automatically makes an installation exempt from approval.
For a dish move around planned building work, bring us in before access is removed. We can assess a replacement position and agree whether the existing cable reaches. Tell us about side-gate widths, roof restrictions and garden access so that the proposed method is realistic for the property.

Check the installation in use, not just on a meter
Instrument readings guide our alignment, but we also connect your receiver and check its required inputs. Where supported and available, we demonstrate recording as well as live viewing. This helps expose a missing second feed or unsuitable configuration which a single working channel would not reveal.
We identify retained cables and explain how the completed arrangement is connected. Extreme downpours can still affect satellite broadcasts, and we make no all-weather guarantee. What we can do is address weak alignment, damaged wiring and unstable supports that leave an installation unnecessarily vulnerable during ordinary conditions.
