We fit, relocate and align dishes for Sky and Freesat, and investigate existing installations that have stopped working. Our role is independent installation and repair: subscriptions, account permissions and programme packages remain matters for your provider. We explain that distinction before discussing equipment.
Tell us which box you intend to connect
A photograph of the receiver model label is more useful than describing it as a Sky box. Sky Q, older Sky equipment and different generations of Freesat receivers do not all accept the same feed arrangement. We check compatibility before selecting the receiving unit on the dish arm, known as the LNB.
Some equipment requires wideband feeds; other receivers use a universal LNB. Recording requirements also vary. If you want to retain an older receiver alongside a newer one, we assess a compatible configuration rather than assuming a simple cable splitter will serve both. Please do not send passwords with your equipment photographs.

Find a genuine satellite sightline between buildings
Sky and Freesat dish reception normally comes from the satellite position at 28.2 degrees east. The dish needs an unobstructed view towards it, not simply an open-looking patch of sky. In streets beside Wood Green's taller developments, we assess neighbouring buildings as carefully as the wall carrying the dish.
We compare feasible mounting locations and confirm reception with a meter. Moving higher is worthwhile only when it clears the obstruction and provides a suitable support. A lower rear-wall position may work well at one terrace and fail at the next because the surrounding rooflines differ.

Shared satellite feeds need building-level checks
Around the High Road, apartment blocks may distribute satellite signals from a communal dish. We establish who manages that equipment and what your flat's outlet supplies. A wall plate with the right-shaped socket does not prove that the distribution system supports your proposed receiver.
Before a Sky Q change in a shared building, we check the available arrangement and any authorised upgrade path. Managing-agent approval and access to distribution cupboards may be necessary. We keep work within your flat separate from changes affecting other residents, so a private installation does not disrupt shared viewing.

Choose the dish position with appearance and permission in mind
On a Victorian terrace or divided house, the nearest wall to the television is not always the best place for a dish. We consider the usable satellite view, access for adjustment and cable route together. Where possible, we propose a discreet location without hiding the dish behind materials that block reception.
Tenancy terms, lease conditions and planning controls can restrict external equipment. If the property is listed or subject to relevant conservation restrictions, additional consent checks may apply. We ask you to obtain the necessary authorisation before fixing equipment; our installation recommendation does not replace a planning decision.

Keep water and cable damage out of the new system
Satellite coax carries signals and supplies power to the LNB, so poor connections can cause more than an untidy picture. We inspect any cable proposed for reuse, including accessible joints and entries. Crushed insulation beneath a window or moisture in an outside connector deserves attention before new equipment is attached.
For replacement runs, we plan the required number of feeds and agree their path into the room. We support cables, avoid sharp bends and weatherproof external terminations. At a converted house, we identify which cables belong to your installation rather than disconnecting another flat's feed on the assumption that it is redundant.

Repair or relocate when the existing dish is serviceable
A no-signal message does not automatically call for a complete replacement. We check dish alignment, bracket stability, the LNB and cabling. If sound equipment can be retained, we explain that option. Loose supports need correcting before alignment, otherwise the next gust may undo the adjustment.
Building work can also interrupt a previously dependable system. A typical job here: scaffolding crosses the satellite path at a terrace, so we assess a clear alternative location and the cable extension required. We discuss whether the move is temporary or permanent before altering the installation.

Check reception across the functions you will use
Once aligned, we measure appropriate satellite transponders and verify the feeds at the receiver. Watching one working channel is not a complete test. Where the box supports recording, we check the relevant viewing and recording functions with your available services and explain any limitation in the setup.
Accurate alignment gives reception more margin when conditions deteriorate, but no dish installation can promise uninterrupted viewing through every extreme storm. We distinguish weather-related limitations from preventable faults such as a shifting bracket or wet connection. You receive a demonstration of the completed system rather than just a reassurance from outside.
