We work with inter-war semis and apartment developments across NW9, including the areas around Grahame Park and Beaufort Park. For flats, we first establish whether the television socket belongs to the building's communal reception system.
A new block can alter an old signal path
Tall buildings can obstruct direct reception and create reflected paths. That does not mean every nearby house needs a bigger aerial. We compare sensible mounting locations and inspect quality on the relevant broadcast groups, looking for a clean solution rather than simply increasing strength.
Around Colindale Park and the larger developments, we treat each address as a separate assessment. A roof position on the other side of a block can produce different results. Our recommendation explains why the selected direction, aerial type and height suit the measured conditions.
Your apartment may already have the right infrastructure
Many newer blocks provide a communal integrated reception system. We identify the terrestrial outlet and test it before proposing private exterior equipment. A missing picture can come from a flylead, a damaged outlet or building distribution, none of which is repaired by placing another aerial in your lounge.
If the fault or proposed upgrade concerns shared equipment, the managing agent needs to authorise access and alterations. We can explain the technical requirement for that discussion. We keep work inside an individual flat separate from a building-wide change so responsibility stays clear.

Semis offer different mounting choices
For an inter-war house, we assess the chimney, wall positions and any usable loft space. The best choice balances reception, structural suitability and access. We inspect the support before selecting a mast; a higher pole places greater demands on the fixing beneath it.
A loft fitting is possible where the building materials allow enough signal through. Foil insulation and nearby metalwork can make it unsuitable even when outdoor reception is strong. We test inside rather than offer an indoor installation solely because it looks discreet on the quotation.

Choose the aerial before adding electronics
We check whether a suitable passive aerial provides enough margin for your intended cable arrangement. High-gain designs can help some sites, but their directional behaviour and greater physical size need to match the problem. They are not a standard upgrade for every new development shadow.
An amplifier is selected only after we know what reaches it and how much distribution loss follows. Strength and quality are not interchangeable. Boosting a feed affected by reflections may produce a larger strength reading without giving your receiver more usable information to decode.
Cable routes must work in occupied buildings
For a house, we agree the exterior drop, entry and outlet positions before drilling. For a flat, we establish which routes can be used without entering someone else's space or breaching building controls. Existing service risers are not automatically available for an unauthorised private cable.
We use screened coax for new agreed runs, protecting outdoor terminations and supporting the cable properly. Where existing wiring remains, we verify its performance. Cable damaged during decorating or building alterations can undermine an otherwise carefully aligned aerial, so we do not ignore the route indoors.

Several televisions need a balanced feed
Tell us which rooms need live broadcasts and which use only streaming. We can then design the outlet count around your actual use. Splitting losses, cable lengths and receiver requirements determine whether simple passive distribution is adequate or an accessible powered arrangement is warranted.
We test each included branch after installation. A strong result in the closest room does not prove that a longer run to a bedroom is satisfactory. If a power supply is part of the system, we identify it at handover and explain why switching it off affects reception.

A channel list backed by measurements
We compare multiplex quality and level at the selected aerial point and at your outlets. Where interference is suspected, we investigate the cause rather than prescribing a filter for every NW9 address. If a filter is necessary, its position must protect the vulnerable amplifier or tuner.
Only after stabilising the feed do we tune the available televisions. We check their compatibility with the desired services, including HD. We also make clear that terrestrial reception does not provide internet access to smart-TV applications; those need their own working network connection.
Prepare for the visit without climbing anywhere
Send your postcode, property type and the number of rooms by WhatsApp to 07595 292534, or call 0800 206 2385 free. Ground-level photographs of visible aerials can help. Please also mention concierge arrangements, locked roof access and any parking restrictions around your building.
Finchley Aerials has 25 years' experience and offers free advice with a fixed written quote before installation. We take calls Mon-Sat 8am-7pm and provide same-day service when possible. Exterior work depends on safe access, suitable weather and daylight, with on-site work ending by sunset.
