We are equally happy to examine a system that somebody else installed. Missing recordings, blank channels and unreliable phone access need proper diagnosis, not an automatic recommendation to start again. We explain which parts remain useful and give you an agreed price for the work required.
Separate the shop entrance from the passing crowd
For premises on Kilburn High Road, we consider the doorway, customer area and delivery access as distinct views. A broad pavement image may establish movement, but it rarely substitutes for detail at the threshold. We discuss lens choice and mounting height in relation to the actual distance involved.
We can set supported activity zones to reduce alerts from routine street movement. Behind the counter, we ask what the camera is intended to show and who should have access. Staff information, appropriate signage and sensible retention belong in the plan, not as an afterthought once cameras are running.
Shared walls need an agreed decision-maker
Brondesbury mansion blocks and Kilburn flat conversions can involve several owners and a managing agent. Before we fix equipment to a common wall or use a shared riser, we establish who can authorise that work. Tell us whether the proposed system serves one flat or the building as a whole.
We also need a clear arrangement for the recorder, user accounts and footage requests. A communal installation should not leave responsibility scattered among residents with different passwords. We can describe the proposed coverage and cable route so the relevant people can consider it before giving approval.
Find out why the existing recorder is letting you down
We distinguish a failed camera image from a recording fault. If live pictures work but yesterday's event is missing, we inspect schedules, drive status and time settings. If a single channel drops out, its supply, connection and cable need checking before a replacement camera is ordered.
Other installers' systems are welcome. We identify analogue or network equipment, check compatibility and inspect outside joints where moisture could enter. Let us know if footage must be preserved before we touch storage or reset settings. We do not format a drive as a casual first step in fault finding.
A free survey across NW6 property types
Victorian terraces, Queen's Park cottages and post-war estates do not share one sensible camera layout. We inspect the entrances, rear access and available mounting surfaces. Around Queen's Park we also discuss frontage restrictions and discreet routing rather than assume an exposed cable will be acceptable.
The site survey costs nothing. We assess access, light, wiring and recording requirements, then supply a fixed written quote. Any separately requested diagnosis or repairs are priced before proceeding. When booking, mention parking arrangements, entry systems and any locked service areas so that the visit can cover the necessary parts of the building.
Route the wiring without obstructing the building
For permanent CCTV we normally recommend wired cameras feeding a local recorder. A network cable can provide both power and video, avoiding reliance on wireless coverage across multiple floors. We agree a route that does not leave leads loose across stairs, fire doors or shared circulation spaces.
In a terrace, an existing service route may help, but we inspect it before promising reuse. Sound older coax can also remain where compatible equipment supports it. We protect outdoor connections, seal entry holes and leave maintenance access. The recorder needs a ventilated, reachable location with authorised access, not an inaccessible corner above a ceiling.
Check glare, door lights and the dark rear passage
A bright shopfront and a dim rear delivery door need different camera settings and sometimes different equipment. We examine the illumination at the subject, including reflections from glazing and pale walls. A high-resolution camera still needs an appropriate lens and enough usable light.
Infrared can help in darkness, but nearby surfaces can bounce it into the lens. Colour night images need sufficient illumination. We explain those limits and consider how any additional light affects neighbouring flats. Existing poor night footage can sometimes improve through repositioning or attention to a dirty cover rather than replacing the entire system.
Put playback and privacy into the handover
We demonstrate a saved event and show you how to export it. We check phone viewing over mobile data rather than relying only on the premises Wi-Fi. Recording capacity is chosen around camera count and settings, with retention explained as part of that arrangement.
We aim to minimise capture of neighbouring homes and unnecessary public space, using privacy masking where supported. Filming beyond your boundary can create data protection responsibilities. We discuss signage, restricted access and retention, while normally leaving audio off. For shops or communal buildings, our installation advice is not a replacement for appropriate legal guidance.
Tell us what has stopped working
Call free on 0800 206 2385, Mon-Sat between 8am and 7pm, or WhatsApp 07595 292534. Your postcode, recorder model and a short description of the symptom help us prepare. Please do not send passwords or private footage in a booking message.
