We fit Starlink on Kingsbury's 1930s semis, Kingsbury Road terraces and flats across NW9. Our work brings the outdoor terminal, its cable and your router together as one planned installation. We explain any restrictions before you agree to the work, with a clear written quote and no promised broadband speeds.
Trees need a wider look than a gap through the branches
Around Fryent Country Park, a terminal may look past a hedge yet still have its upper view interrupted by mature trees. Starlink needs broad visibility because the satellites move. We assess potential locations using the app's obstruction check and explain what nearby foliage means for interruptions.
Winter branches are not the whole picture. We consider where the leaf canopy will be, as well as growth and movement in wind. We cannot guarantee that a tree will never interfere. Where a practical installation leaves an obstruction, we explain that limitation rather than presenting it as fully clear.
A semi gives choices, but each needs checking
A side wall, rear elevation or chimney may all appear possible on a 1930s semi. We compare the actual sky view with access and the supporting surface. A conservatory underneath a useful wall can make that location much harder to install or maintain than a clear gable.
A typical job here: the owner proposes a rear patio position, but the extension roof and trees block part of its view. We assess a raised alternative, discuss the cable down the side wall and check whether safe access is available. The example is a planning sequence, not a promise that height solves every property.
Do not buy a bracket until the model is confirmed
Starlink terminals have changed over time, with different mounting interfaces and connection arrangements. Send us the model or a clear label photograph before the appointment. We can then identify compatible hardware instead of adapting an unsuitable bracket around equipment it was never designed to carry.
We look at wind loading, pole length and the condition of the masonry together. Existing aerial supports need inspection before reuse, particularly where lashings or wall bolts are weathered. If the structure needs attention, we flag it. We will not fit a new terminal onto a visibly failing support simply to save a visit.
Kingsbury Road flats require an agreed outside route
For flats over shops and homes with shared entrances, establish who controls the roof and outer wall. We need the appropriate landlord or managing-agent approval for external fixings and cable access. Ownership of the indoor equipment does not automatically give permission to alter common building fabric.
We also ask about keys, roof hatches and permitted working access. A cable must not trail through a communal corridor or create a trip hazard. Where the route affects fire separation, the details and reinstatement must be agreed. Tell us about building restrictions before we reserve an installation slot.
Weather protection starts at the cable route
The run from terminal to router should be planned before a drill touches the wall. We agree where the cable will show, check the entry point and consider the connector clearance. A route that fits bare cable may be too tight for the connector supplied with your particular kit.
We secure exposed runs, avoid crushing and sharp corners, and shed water before the sealed entry. We do not leave unsupported loops rubbing against guttering. Your existing television lead cannot take over this job: the Starlink power and data path requires suitable equipment-specific cabling.
Plan coverage beyond the front room
Extensions can put a kitchen desk far from the router's most convenient entry point. We ask where dependable access matters to you and distinguish the satellite link from the Wi-Fi inside. A healthy terminal cannot overcome every thick wall or awkward router cupboard on its own.
We can discuss compatible mesh or a wired network connection within the proposed scope. Ports and adapters vary between generations, so we check before specifying anything. A mesh node needs a useful upstream connection; placing it in the middle of a dead spot is not a complete design.
Your account, with an installation you understand
The Starlink subscription remains yours. At handover we confirm connectivity, review the app status and show you where obstruction information appears. It takes time for the system to build a useful picture of interruptions, so an early screen is not the final history of the location.
We inspect fixings and cable protection and explain the agreed work. Performance can vary with service plan, demand and conditions; our quote is for installation rather than a speed guarantee. If trouble develops, noting the app warning and which devices are affected helps us decide what to check.
Tell us about your NW9 property
Phone 0800 206 2385 free or send WhatsApp to 07595 292534. Useful details include your postcode, terminal generation, roof shape and preferred router room. Send exterior photographs only from a safe ground-level position, and mention any parking or side-gate restrictions.
Finchley Aerials and Satellites has 25 years' experience and is based at Britannia Road, Finchley N12 9RU. Free advice is available Mon-Sat 8am-7pm; site work continues until sunset. We accommodate same-day requests where possible and confirm a fixed written quote before starting installation.
