We install across NW7, from inter-war semis near Mill Hill Broadway to detached houses and Millbrook Park homes. Our job is to make the physical installation sound, explain any limitations and agree the scope before drilling. You receive a fixed written quote rather than a promise based on a postcode.
Wooded slopes need a proper obstruction check
Around Arrandene Open Space, branches can occupy a substantial part of the view above a low roof. We assess candidate positions using the Starlink app's obstruction tool. Seasonal growth matters too: a gap through bare branches may not remain useful once leaves return. We explain that risk instead of treating a winter view as permanent.
Mill Hill Village's ridge and the roads below it present different surroundings. Starlink follows moving satellites, so we need to consider an area of sky rather than a single bearing. A working television dish on the same house is not evidence that its bracket is in a suitable place.
Height is useful only when the support is sound
We compare wall, roof and other appropriate positions before proposing extra height. On an exposed detached house, extending a pole also increases leverage at its base. We inspect the supporting structure and choose compatible mounting hardware for the terminal model, exposure and proposed stand-off. A taller assembly is not automatically a better installation.
An existing aerial mast may offer a possible position, but we inspect its brackets and condition before discussing reuse. Chimney defects or unsafe access can rule an option out. We tell you when specialist access is necessary and include the agreed arrangement in the scope; we do not balance ladders over a conservatory.
Plan the downstairs destination before the rooftop work
In a deep semi, the easiest wall entry may be nowhere near the study. We ask where you work, stream or need a wired connection, then trace a practical route from terminal to indoor equipment. Tell us about extensions, loft rooms and finished decoration so we can discuss visible runs before work begins.
The supplied connector must pass through the proposed entry without being damaged. We allow for its size, respect cable bend limits and support the external run. We form suitable water-shedding details and seal the penetration. Starlink's power and data cable cannot be replaced with spare television coax simply because the coax already reaches the room.
Millbrook Park homes and shared exteriors
Newer construction can make a cable route less obvious than it appears. We discuss wall build-up, insulation and accessible service routes rather than assuming any convenient surface can carry a bracket. Where a property has a managed exterior, lease conditions or development rules, you need the relevant approval before we make external alterations.
For flats, we establish roof access and the ownership of walls with the responsible party. A private balcony does not necessarily provide either an unobstructed view or permission for a permanent fixing. If listed status or conservation controls affect a Mill Hill address, we flag the need to check consent before installation.
A connected terminal does not cover every room
Large houses can have a perfectly healthy satellite link and poor Wi-Fi upstairs. We distinguish those issues by checking the connection close to the router before looking at coverage elsewhere. Thick internal walls, several floors and an extension behind the kitchen can all affect how far the indoor signal travels.
We position the router sensibly within the agreed cable arrangement and discuss additional access points or compatible mesh separately. Where a study needs dependable connectivity, Ethernet may be worth planning. Available ports and adapters depend on your Starlink generation; we check the equipment rather than promising that every kit accepts the same network connections.
Moving a temporary garden setup to a permanent position
A typical job here: a terminal standing on a lawn works intermittently beneath surrounding trees. We compare safe permanent locations, check whether the existing cable can reach and inspect its condition. Moving equipment higher is worthwhile only if the obstruction assessment improves and the support can carry the installation safely.
If you already own a kit, send its model details and describe any damage or app warnings. We can assess the mounting and cabling without taking over your subscription. Account activation, plan suitability and network availability remain matters for your Starlink account; physical installation cannot remove restrictions imposed by the service itself.
Finish with checks you can understand
Once mounted, we examine the fixings, supported cable and weatherproof entry, then confirm connectivity with you. We review the app status and show you where obstruction information appears. Some information accumulates after installation, so we explain what can be checked immediately and what needs observation during normal use.
We do not guarantee a particular download rate. Demand, your chosen service and operating conditions affect performance. Our handover separates the work we have completed from the satellite service, and explains access for future maintenance. Any agreed indoor coverage checks are carried out in the rooms included in the quote.
Tell us about your NW7 roof and kit
Phone 0800 206 2385 free or send ground-level photographs by WhatsApp to 07595 292534. Include your postcode, terminal version and any access restrictions. We offer free advice, answer Mon-Sat 8am-7pm and arrange same-day service where possible. On-site work continues until sunset when conditions permit safe working.
We are Finchley Aerials and Satellites, based at Britannia Road, Finchley N12 9RU. With 25 years' experience, we bring practical mounting and cable-routing knowledge to your installation. We confirm what is included and give a clear price before work starts. Please do not climb onto the roof to take photographs.
