N12 contains very different installation problems within a short distance. Apartment schemes around Tally Ho Corner can restrict access to external walls, while a semi towards Woodside Park may need a longer cable run past an extension. We build the proposal around your address, not a standard roof-and-router package.
Start with how you intend to use the connection
Tell us whether Starlink will be your main broadband connection, a replacement for an unreliable service or a separate connection for particular equipment. Those choices affect where the indoor equipment belongs. We also ask about the rooms where you work, existing network sockets and whether you already have a mesh system.
We do not assume that fitting a satellite terminal resolves every broadband complaint. Account availability, subscription conditions and service performance are matters to check with Starlink. Our contribution is a properly considered installation and an honest explanation of what it can achieve at your building, including any limits identified during assessment.
Tall neighbours matter around Tally Ho Corner
Buildings near the High Road and artsdepot can take up a large slice of the sky from a lower roof. A clear view down the road does not prove the terminal has the view it needs. We use Starlink's obstruction check at the proposed location and explain what nearby structures mean for the result.
Towards Woodside Park, the issue may instead be branches above a garden-side mounting point. We consider growth and foliage without promising that a tree will remain unchanged. We compare feasible positions, and if none offers an acceptable balance of reception, access and support, we say so before committing to permanent fixings.
A practical mounting choice for an inter-war semi
A typical job here: an inter-war semi has a clear upper side wall, a rear extension and an existing aerial mast. We assess those options rather than automatically attaching the terminal to the mast. The best answer depends on masonry, exposure, terminal clearance and whether the cable can reach its destination using approved arrangements.
We identify your Starlink generation before choosing the adapter or support. Fixings must suit the wall and expected loading, not simply fit through the bracket holes. An excessively long pole can magnify movement and leverage. Where the available structure is unsound, repairs or a different position must be considered first.
Conversions need agreement beyond your own front door
In a converted house, a convenient outside wall may still be shared property. We ask who can authorise drilling and whether the intended cable passes another flat. For newer apartment schemes, roof-access rules and managing-agent requirements should be established before you arrange an installation date.
We describe the proposed equipment position and cable path so you can request informed approval. Communal stairs are not an informal cable duct. Fire compartments, shared doors and access routes need respecting, with any necessary specialist provisions agreed in advance. If permission is refused, we discuss realistic alternatives rather than hiding unauthorised work.
Keep the powered cable protected from outside to inside
We measure and plan before drilling, allowing for the cable's connectors and the kit's requirements. Suitable support prevents loose lengths moving against brick edges or gutters. At the entry, we manage rainwater and seal the penetration appropriately. A cable squeezed through a window is not a permanent weatherproof solution.
Indoors, we agree a position with mains power and reasonable ventilation for the relevant equipment. Existing television wiring cannot simply be repurposed for the Starlink connection. If a longer route or networking changes are needed, we include those in the proposal so you know what the installation covers before work begins.
Test the satellite link separately from the home network
We check that the terminal connects and review the app for relevant warnings. Obstruction history needs time to develop, so we explain where you can see it after installation. If you have brought us in for dropouts on an existing system, that information can help distinguish a blocked view from an indoor connection problem.
For weak coverage upstairs or across a deep ground floor, we assess router placement and compatible network extensions. Some equipment generations need particular adapters for wired connections. We confirm compatibility rather than assuming every Starlink router has the same ports. Any wider Wi-Fi work is agreed separately within the written scope.
Book locally, with the work set out in writing
Our base is Britannia Road, Finchley N12 9RU. We are Finchley Aerials and Satellites and bring 25 years' experience to external mounting and cabling. Send your postcode, kit model and ground-level photographs by WhatsApp to 07595 292534. Include access restrictions, but never send account passwords or attempt roof photographs yourself.
For free advice, phone 0800 206 2385. We are available Mon-Sat between 8am and 7pm, and carry out outside work until sunset when safe. Ask about same-day availability; equipment, permission and weather can affect timing. We give you a clear price before work starts and explain the guarantee for the agreed installation.
