From 1930s semis near Grovelands Park to detached homes towards Oakwood and flats around Southgate Circus, the practical constraints vary. We explain what suits your property, what needs approval and what the quote includes. Our work covers installation and agreed setup, while you remain responsible for the Starlink account and subscription.
Work backwards from your desk, television or network cabinet
We begin by asking where you actually need connectivity. A router placed beside the easiest drilling point may leave the study poorly served. Tell us about existing Ethernet wiring, rooms on different floors and any plans to use the connection in an extension. That helps us avoid choosing an entry point you immediately regret.
We check which Starlink system you own because cable arrangements, power equipment and network connections differ. If extra networking is required, we describe it separately in the scope. We do not assume that a house full of wireless devices will all work well simply because the terminal has been secured outside.

Grovelands Park surroundings call for a proper sky check
Mature trees can loom over an otherwise open garden. Starlink's moving satellites need a broad usable view, so we use the app's obstruction assessment rather than judging by a single clear direction. A position that looks fine from a downstairs window may have a branch canopy directly above it.
We compare sensible locations without assuming the tallest possible pole is the solution. Neighbouring roofs and nearby planting are considered together. Where some obstruction remains, we explain the likely limitation before proceeding. Neither Southgate's generally good television reception nor a nearby working satellite dish proves a particular Starlink position will be suitable.

Sound fixings for semis and exposed upper walls
A side wall can offer convenient access on a semi, but the terminal still needs clearance from the roof and a suitable fixing base. We examine the proposed masonry and support arrangement. Existing aerial brackets are assessed for condition, compatibility and loading before we consider retaining them for different equipment.
We follow the relevant hardware requirements and account for wind exposure and the leverage of any pole. A weak stack or loose brickwork is a building issue to resolve, not something to disguise with additional screws. Work at height also depends on safe access and conditions; we rearrange rather than take risks in unsuitable weather.
A permanent cable route should survive everyday life
We show you the intended external run before installation. On houses with rear additions, that may involve avoiding roof edges, gutters and places where maintenance could disturb the cable. We secure the run appropriately and allow sensible bends, keeping the kit's connector and cable requirements in mind throughout.
At the wall, we provide a weather-resistant entry and manage rainwater so it does not follow the cable indoors. Inside, we avoid trailing leads across doorways and leave equipment accessible. Ordinary aerial coax cannot carry the Starlink terminal connection. If the proposed distance exceeds a suitable arrangement for your kit, we discuss another route.
Flats near the Circus have a different approval process
A balcony or shared roof is not automatically available for private equipment. We ask who owns the proposed mounting surface and whether the freeholder or managing agent has agreed the work. Around Southgate's listed station setting, the status of the actual building and any applicable planning controls need checking rather than guessing.
The proposed route must also respect shared access and fire-safety arrangements. We can explain the physical installation for an approval request, including where the terminal and cable would be visible. Obtain the required permissions before booking the work itself. A tenancy agreement or an existing neighbour's dish is not proof that yours is authorised.
Review the app, then review the rooms
Once connected, we inspect the status information and confirm the service is accessible through your account. Obstruction reporting develops over time, so we show you what to revisit after the terminal has operated. We also inspect the completed physical work rather than treating one successful speed test as the entire handover.
For indoor coverage concerns, we test within the agreed area and discuss router placement or compatible extensions. If an existing setup is dropping out, we can investigate its mounting and cabling even if somebody else installed it. Account faults and service issues may require Starlink support; we explain when physical work is unlikely to help.
Make the first call with the useful details ready
Give us your N14 address, terminal model and property type. Ground-level pictures of the roofline and trees are useful; photographs taken from a roof are not worth the risk. Mention parking or entry restrictions and whether someone else must arrange access. We will explain the next step and provide a fixed written quote.
