We fit Starlink on N21 cottages, villas and inter-war houses, agreeing access, mounting and the route indoors together. If the proposed position has limitations, we explain them before you commit. You receive a fixed written quote for the physical installation and agreed setup.
Look above the garden, not just across it
Near Grovelands Park, mature planting deserves particular attention during a survey. Branches beside a rear extension may occupy a substantial part of the equipment's required view. We use the Starlink app to assess potential obstructions rather than assuming a pleasant open garden means an unobstructed satellite connection.
We compare feasible mounting locations and consider seasonal foliage as well as the roof next door. Starlink follows moving satellites; it cannot rely on one narrow opening through the trees. Where no sensible mounting position clears the obstruction, we would rather explain that limitation than sell you unnecessary height.

A cottage on The Green needs a considered fixing
Victorian cottages around Winchmore Hill Green offer different fixing options from larger Edwardian villas. We inspect the masonry, roofline and available stand-off before proposing a bracket. An old aerial pole is only a candidate: its condition, fixings and loading must suit the Starlink hardware, not merely accept an adapter.
On taller houses, a longer mast creates greater leverage in wind. We balance clearance with a structurally sensible arrangement and safe maintenance access. If the chimney or brickwork needs attention first, we flag it. We do not treat loose mortar as an installation problem that more bolts will solve.
Agree the appearance and permissions before drilling
External equipment can change the appearance of a small frontage noticeably. We discuss less prominent positions where they still provide an adequate sky view. If conservation controls or listed status affect your property, check the relevant requirements before authorising work; a discreet location does not automatically remove the need for consent.
For a converted villa, we establish whether the outside wall and roof belong to the freeholder. You arrange the necessary written approval, including the cable route through any shared space. We avoid booking roof work on the assumption that permission for your own rooms also covers the building exterior.

Choose the indoor destination while planning the cable
In an inter-war semi around Grange Park, the rear wall might offer a sensible entry but leave the router far from the rooms that need it. We discuss how you use the house before settling that route. A short outside cable is not a saving if it creates poor coverage indoors.
We confirm your kit version, cable length and connector requirements before making an opening. The external run needs support, gentle bends and protection from abrasion. We seal the wall penetration and arrange the approach so rain is not guided inside. Existing TV coax is not a substitute for Starlink cabling.

Separate a blocked sky from a weak bedroom connection
A thick-walled Edwardian house can have a healthy satellite connection and an unreliable wireless link upstairs. We distinguish those two faults. The app's obstruction information helps assess the outdoor side; testing near the router and in the affected room helps identify whether the indoor network is the problem.
Where coverage needs extending, we discuss compatible mesh equipment or a wired connection. Hardware connections differ between Starlink generations, so an Ethernet adapter may be relevant for one kit but not another. We agree any additional networking work explicitly rather than implying the basic mount will fix every dead spot.
Roof height alone does not settle the survey
Winchmore Hill's changing ground levels are relevant to access and neighbouring rooflines, but terrestrial TV reception is not a Starlink test. An aerial that receives Crystal Palace successfully tells us nothing conclusive about the broad sky view needed here. We assess the actual intended location using the appropriate Starlink checks.
A typical job here: a semi has trees behind its patio and an accessible gable. We compare the app's obstruction checks at feasible positions, assess a supported mount and agree the visible cable run. If that gable cannot provide suitable clearance, we discuss alternatives instead of fitting there regardless.
Check operation without promising a download figure
Once the equipment is secure, we check its connections and help confirm it comes online through your account. We review the initial status with you, show you the obstruction information and explain that fuller reporting can take time. We also check the rooms included in the agreed wireless setup.
Network demand, your subscription and operating conditions affect performance. We do not guarantee a particular speed or uninterrupted service. You keep control of billing and account credentials; our role is the agreed mounting, cable installation and setup assistance, with a clear explanation of what has been installed.

Call 0800 206 2385 free for advice, or WhatsApp 07595 292534 with your N21 postcode and Starlink model. Ground-level pictures showing nearby trees and the proposed wall help us prepare. Please do not climb to take them, and tell us about locked side access or parking restrictions.
We are Finchley Aerials and Satellites, Britannia Road, Finchley N12 9RU, bringing 25 years' experience. Our hours are Mon-Sat, 8am-7pm; on-site work continues until sunset when conditions permit. Same-day appointments are possible where available, but safe access, permissions and suitable weather determine when roof installation can proceed.
