We handle the agreed physical installation of your kit: suitable support, protected cabling and connection checks. You control the Starlink account and service plan. Where the property cannot accommodate a sensible installation, we explain why instead of treating a roof bracket as the answer to every obstruction.
Start with the house and its approval requirements
The Suburb's planned setting calls for care over visible equipment and changes to external fabric. We flag relevant Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust requirements alongside planning controls and any listed-building considerations. You should establish the approvals required for your particular address before authorising fixings, rather than assume a rear elevation is exempt.
We can set out a proposed terminal location, support and cable route so that an application or enquiry describes something definite. Permission to replace an old aerial does not necessarily cover adding Starlink hardware. If a landlord or freeholder also has an interest, their agreement is a separate part of preparing the job.

Trees around Big Wood make the survey important
Mature planting is part of the setting, but it can occupy the sky a terminal needs. Near Big Wood, we compare candidate positions with the Starlink app's obstruction assessment. We consider branches to the side as well as directly above, because the connection depends on satellites moving through a broad visible area.
An apparently clear winter view may change when leaves return. We discuss that uncertainty and potential growth rather than assume today's check lasts indefinitely. We do not propose cutting protected trees as an incidental part of installing broadband. If vegetation prevents a practical clear view, that limitation needs resolving before permanent equipment is fitted.
Choose a position without overloading the support
Around Central Square and the surrounding residential roads, roof shapes and chimneys offer different possibilities. We assess safe access, the condition of the proposed fixing surface and the view together. A tall chimney is not automatically the right choice, particularly if reaching it or maintaining the installation would be difficult.
We identify your terminal version before specifying compatible hardware. Longer poles increase leverage, so raising equipment above a roofline needs a mounting design that suits the loading. Existing lashings, brackets and masonry are checked rather than accepted on appearance. We explain when a different location or prior building repair is necessary.
A cable route should be agreed, not improvised
We ask where the indoor equipment will sit before making an outside entry. In Arts and Crafts homes and other period properties, exposed runs across detailed brickwork or through finished rooms need particular thought. We describe the visible sections and discuss alternatives before any drilling begins.
The terminal cable must suit the Starlink generation and the permitted route length. We allow room for connectors, support the external run and avoid sharp turns, crushing or unnecessary tension. The wall entry is arranged to discourage rain tracking inside and sealed appropriately. Older TV coax cannot carry the Starlink connection in place of its specified cable.
Keep safe access separate from the best-looking location
A discreet rear position may be harder to reach than a visible front wall. We establish the access route for ladders or other equipment and ask about gates, planting and parking arrangements. Ground-level photos help us prepare; there is no need for you to climb up to inspect a fixing point.
If additional access equipment is required, we explain it as part of the quotation. We work around the building rather than resting equipment against fragile surfaces or taking shortcuts through unsuitable areas. Weather can stop roof work, and daylight matters: an available appointment does not override the need for a safe working position.
Plan wireless coverage beyond the entry room
Thick internal walls and extended ground floors can weaken Wi-Fi even when the terminal has a healthy satellite link. We discuss where the connection is needed: study, upstairs rooms or the far side of an extension. That helps avoid choosing a cable entry which leaves the router isolated from the rooms that matter.
Additional coverage may involve compatible mesh equipment or wired access points, depending on the layout and scope you agree. We verify Ethernet connections and any adapter requirements for your kit. Placing a wireless node where it barely receives the main router is unlikely to produce dependable coverage further on.
Review the finished installation and app together
After mounting, we check security, cable dressing, connections and the sealed entry. We help you get the system online using your own account without asking you to send passwords. Any service activation requirement needs completing with Starlink; physical installation does not replace the provider's account process.
We demonstrate connection status and test the agreed network areas. Obstruction information may develop over time after startup, so we explain what to review later. We make no guaranteed speed claim: plan conditions, demand and the satellite service affect performance independently of our workmanship. Remaining practical limitations are discussed at handover.

Finchley Aerials and Satellites operates from Britannia Road, Finchley N12 9RU, with 25 years' experience. We are available Mon-Sat, 8am-7pm; on-site tasks run until sunset where conditions allow. Same-day attendance may be possible, but installation still depends on the necessary consents and safe access being ready.
